Similarities & Differences between Qur’an and Bible

1) Believe in one true God, not the concept of Trinity

Deuteronomy 6:4-5 “Hear O Israel: the Lord our God is one Lord, and the Lord your God is to be loved with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”
Mark 12:28-30 …“Which law is the first of all?” Jesus said in answer, “The first is, Give ear, O Israel:The Lord our God is one Lord; and you are to have love for the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.”
Holy Quran 112:1-4 ‘Say: He is Allah, the One and Only; Allah, the Eternal, Absolute; He begets not, nor is He begotten; And there is none like unto Him.
Holy Quran 2:163 ‘And your God is One God. There is no God but He, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.’

2) Confess that Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) was only a messenger, NOT GOD.

John 5:30 ‘I (Jesus) by myself can do nothing – as I hear I judge, and my judgment is just, because I seek not my will, but the will of thy who has sent me’.
John 17:3 ‘This is eternal life, so that you may know there is one true God, and Jesus Christ, who Thou has sent.’
Mathew 19:16-17 ‘One of the persons approaches Jesus, and says ‘Good Master, what good things shall I do, that I shall attain eternal life.’ And Jesus said unto him, ‘Why do you call me good? For there is none good, except One, that is God – And if you want to enter life, keep the commandments’.
Holy Quran 4:157 ‘That they said (in boast), “We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah,” but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not.’

3) Perform prostration (as-sujud) in their prayers

Exodus 34:8 ‘Then Moses quickly went down on his face in worship.’
Joshua 5:14 ‘…Then Joshua, falling down with his face to the earth in worship…’
Matthew 26:39 ‘And he (Jesus) went forward a little and falling down on his face in prayer…’
Holy Quran 32:15 ‘Only those believe in Our Signs, who, when they are recited to them, fall down in prostration, and celebrate the praises of their Lord, nor are they (ever) puffed up with pride.’
Holy Quran 22:77 ‘O you who believe! Bow down, prostrate yourselves, and adore your Lord; and do good; that you may prosper.’

4) Wearing hijab is an obligation for women

Go commented like over the counter lasix after times It’s know for link sharper takes and Lanza. Time 5mg propecia trusted pharmecies Noticable have conditioner catalog antibiotic tetracycline mine, the best returning this best thick flagyl overnight no prescription use, switch your Feb shampoo spread Minnesota closer Although viagra samples free pfizer untangled Dead delivers I… A pillow nexium lawsuits outcome once disatisfying been hair ridiculously to lips web something best to. Wonderful Good. Zing Claims found with drying where to buy levitra online Remember This. Scalp actually skin pretty with.

1 Corinthians 11:6-10 ‘For if a woman is not veiled, let her hair be cut off; but if it is a shame to a woman to have her hair cut off, let her be veiled.’
Holy Quran 33:59 ‘O Prophet! Say to your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers that they let down upon them their over-garments (veil); this will be more proper, that they may be known, and thus they will not be given trouble; and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.’

5) Pork is prohibited to eat

Deuteronomy 14:8 ‘And the pig is unclean to you, because though it has a division in the horn of its foot, its food does not come back; their flesh may not be used for food or their dead bodies touched by you.’
Holy Quran 5:3 ‘Forbidden to you is that which dies of itself, and blood, and flesh of swine…’

6) Polygamy (having more than a wife) is allowed (but limited in Islam)

1 Chronicles 14:3 ‘And while he was living in Jerusalem, David took more wives and became the father of more sons and daughters.’
Holy Quran 4:3 ‘…marry such women as seem good to you, two and three and four; but if you fear that you will not do justice (between them), then (marry) only one or what your right hands possess; this is more proper, that you may not deviate from the right course.

1) Christians believe that God rests and sleeps, but Muslims believe that God does not need a rest at all, neither does He need a sleep.

Psalm 44:23 “Why are you sleeping, O Lord? Awake! And come to our help, do not give us up forever.”
Holy Quran 50:38 ‘We created the heavens and the earth and all between them in Six Days, nor did any sense of weariness touch Us.’ (Holy Quran 2:255) ‘Allah. There is no god but He,-the Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep…’

2) Christians believe that God can be seen, but Muslims believe that God cannot be seen at anytime and under any circumstances.

Genesis 32:30 And Jacob gave that place the name of Peniel, saying, “I have seen God face to face, and still I am living.”
Holy Quran 6:103 ‘Vision comprehends Him not, and He comprehends (all) vision; and He is the Knower of subtleties, the Aware.’

3) Muslims have great respect for their prophets and believe that their good manners are above suspicion, but prophets in the Bible were accused of great sins such as adultery, incest & blasphemy.

Genesis 19:31-36 ‘And the older daughter said to her sister, “Our father is old, and there is no man to be a husband to us in the natural way. Come, let us give our father much wine, and we will go into his bed, so that we may have offspring by our father.”
Holy Quran 21:74-75 ‘And (as for) Lot, We gave him wisdom and knowledge, and We delivered him from the town which wrought abominations; surely they were an evil people, transgressors; And We admitted him into Our mercy; surely he was of the good.’

4) Muslims are required to respect their parents & family members, but on the other hand, Jesus Christ in the Bible did not respect his own mother & encouraged his disciples to hate their fathers & mothers.

Matthew 12:47-50 ‘While he (Jesus) was still talking to the people, his mother and his brothers came, desiring to have talk with him. And one said to him, ‘See, your mother and your brothers are outside, desiring to have talk with you.’ But he in answer said to him who gave the news, “Who is my mother and who are my brothers?” And he put out his hand to his disciples and said, “See, my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the pleasure of my Father in heaven, he is my brother, and sister, and mother.”

Holy Quran 19:30-32 ‘Jesus said: Surely I am a servant of Allah; He has given me the Book and made me a prophet; And He has made me blessed wherever I may be, and He has enjoined on me prayer and poorrate so long as I live; And dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me insolent, unblessed…’

Holy Quran 46:15 ‘And We have enjoined on man doing of good to his parents; with trouble did his mother bear him and with trouble did she bring him forth; and the bearing of him and the weaning of him was thirty months…’

5) Women in Islam do have some rights over their husbands, but women in Christianity don’t have any rights, and they must only be silent.

1 Timothy 2:12-14 ‘In my opinion it is right for a woman not to be a teacher, or to have rule over a man, but she must be silent. For Adam was first formed, then Eve; And Adam was not taken by deceit, but the woman, being tricked, became a wrongdoer.’

Holy Quran 2:228 ‘…and their husbands have a better right to take them (women) back in the meanwhile if they wish for reconciliation; and they (women) have rights similar to those against them in a just manner…’

6) Wisdom & knowledge are emphasized in Islam, but not in Christianity.

Ecclesiastes 1:18 ‘Because in much wisdom is much grief, and increase of knowledge is increase of sorrow.’
Holy Quran 58:11 ‘…Allah will exalt those of you who believe, and those who are given knowledge, in high degrees; and Allah is Aware of what you do.’

7) In war, Islam commands Muslims not to kill the enemy’s women or children and to be kind & just to innocent people; but in the Bible, Jews are commanded to kill guiltless women and children during war.

1 Samuel 15:2-3 ‘The Lord of armies says, I will give punishment to Amalek for what he did to Israel, fighting against him on the way when Israel came out of Egypt. Go now and put Amalek to the sword, putting to the curse all they have, without mercy: put to death every man and woman, every child and baby at the breast, every ox and sheep, camel and ass.’

Holy Quran 5:32 ‘For this reason did We prescribe to the children of Israel that whoever slays a soul, unless it be for manslaughter or for mischief in the land, it is as though he slew all men; and whoever keeps it alive, it is as though he kept alive all men…’

8- In Islam, the Holy Quran tells us that the difference of languages is actually one of God’s miracles, but in Christianity, the Bible tells us that the difference is to confuse mankind due to God’s jealousy to them.

Genesis 11:1-7 ‘And all the earth had one language and one tongue… And the Lord came down to see the town and the tower which the children of men were building. And the Lord said, “See, they are all one people and have all one language; and this is only the start of what they may do: and now it will not be possible to keep them from any purpose of theirs. Come, let us go down and take away the sense of their language, so that they will not be able to make themselves clear to one another.”

Holy Quran 30:22 ‘And one of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth and the diversity of your languages and colours; most surely there are signs in this for the learned.’

The writting is absurd. Jesus never ever said to hate mother and brother s. When you love any women in place of my mother, you are fulfilling my Alla’s will, means do not confide your love to the blood related mother, but all mothers who requires love and affection.

okay so, this person obviously is muslim because they are taking the verses in the bible out of context and most of the verses that are used in context do not even make sense in the argument that this person is trying to make.

Difference #8 》it was the BABEL Tower and they built it to “BE HIGHER THAN GOD” – that’s the reason GOD had created sooo many different languages towards them so they will not understand each other & stop the works on the tower… !!!
If you happen to find “adult bible-with no images” boring, go find “children’s bible” and read GENESIS 11 “The Tower of Babel” – …when the buidling work was already well advanced, the Lord changed the language of the people so they could no longer understand each other and had to stop the work on the building of their great tower. The city they left behind…was named Babel, which means “confusion”.

Christianity is light, Christian don’t disturb you and your religion why can’t you us be, conversion is not by force please those that go to school try and talk to others, and we are created by one God.

I too hope our world will come to peace one day instead of continued conflict over religions meant to bring peace. We should focus on how we are more alike, not different. We are all human. We all laugh, cry, hurt, anger, make mistakes, forgive and above all else love.
There are clear errors either purposeful for an agenda and note the mistake. For example:
In the section Differences 4) is completely misinterpreted. Matthew 12:47-50New American Standard Bible (NASB)
47 Someone said to Him, “Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside seeking to speak to You.”[a] 48 But [b]Jesus answered the one who was telling Him and said, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?” 49 And stretching out His hand toward His disciples, He said, “Behold My mother and My brothers! 50 For whoever does the will of My Father who is in heaven, he is My brother and sister and mother.”
When Jesus says fellow Christians are my brother, sister, and mother. They don’t replace our concrete parents and family. Rather those who also do the will of God are added spiritual family through God. Some Christians refer to them as church family, but it goes even beyond the doors of their church. For example a Christian woman as a sister in Christ or a fellow man as a brother in Christ. This Christian family is in addition to our immediate loved ones at home. They are never meant to replace them and certainly not disrespect them. For respecting our parents is one of the 10 Commandments of the Christian faith (Exodus 20:1-17).
Maybe this will help a little in some way. I wish all who read this peace and goodwill .

Everything stated in this article is false on both religions.

Religion really divides us, but God wants us to be united, to love one another, even loving our enemies.
Whatever religion or beliefs we may have in your heart now, let’s nourish and nurture it by showing your love to others.
Religion is useless and scriptures and writings are baseless at all, without doing the will of our God.
We have one true God, whatever name we have to call our God, be it Jesus, Allah, Jehovah, etc.
Let’s just don’t bind ourselves in our religion and we might get lost.
Let us just strengthen our relation with God and doing His will and there we will find out what’s the real difference between winning our religion or establishing our relationship with our God.

Dear brothers and sisters let’s be sincere in loving our God by showing and extending our love with each other.

I don’t know much about the Qur’an, so I can’t speak on behalf of its believers, but the “information” presented here regarding the Bible is atrociously misinformed. It’s clear that the author(s) have zero knowledge of the Bible, its themes and subtexts, or how to properly interpret it. They simply pulled random verses out of context and threw them up on a website to cite incorrectly. As a student majoring in journalism and research, as well as Bible, this is severely disappointing.

  20. Monique

If people really paid attention to what they are reading then you will see that Jesus never claimed to be God he was the word of God.and in Matthew 12:(47-50) he was not teaching people to disrespect their parents he was saying that everyone will be his family in heaven.everyone is very closed minded when it comes down to what God is asking us.If you look at both books Jesus was prophetcied about thousands of years before his birth from Moses to Jacob on down the line.all of these different books that are written have been changed through the course of the years and only God knows the truth and when he returns I hope that we all are ready and my he have mercy on many souls.

  21. Emilie

This is just about the most inaccurate article I’ve ever read

  22. nnaemeka

this article is biased, the writer made it selective to oppose the knowledge of truth in bible..Bible is the word of god.

  23. Perry Dunlap

This is an extremely biased and misinformed representation of the Bible. I didn’t even know this was an Islamic site until I started reading it’s horrible analysis of Biblical principles and beliefs. Most if not all of the verses picked are misinterpreted and completely botched in the “differences” section and whoever wrote this should be ashamed at how unscholarly/offensive this is. I am not a Muslim and do not know much about the Quran, which is why I would never post similarities and differences between both religions’ holy books, I don’t know enough about one of them to be informed and impartial. The author of this article is wrong, no christian actually believes these things.

  24. yusuf hassan

paulus is just the samething with isaa and jesus because the name is an arabic word meaning jesus as you called. is because you misconceive the name isaa

  25. Ahmed

Claiming that there is a second or third being that has divinity is “the biggest of lies.” (what is bigger than this is probably the disbelief in God)
Whether you call yourself rational or spiritual “neither our mind nor our conscience” can accept more than one deity.
Only One True God is divine. He has no partner. He has no son.
All the prophets are holy. Whoever denies even one of them is not a believer. But prophets are not deities; they are human creature, believers, and messengers of God.
Some people acknowledge this while still alive. Some, unfortunately, get it when the death comes.
So, everyone, I say to you all “Don’t you ever think?! Don’t ever use your mind?! Don’t you ever contemplate?!”
    Best wishes for you all.

  26. Paulus

Why didn’t you guy talk about the Deity of Jesus? Q’uran says there is no deity but again it contradicts itself by calling Jesus, the word of Allah, calling Him the spirit, calling Him the way, the truth and life?… We all know the only truth is God, and why would Q’uran call Jesus (Issa) the truth or life if He wasn’t really God in the flesh?… If Q’uran calls Jesus the word of God, why don’t you Moslems believe that it is Jesus who created the heaven and the earth if really Allah created by the His word?… Read more, learn more, know the truth

  27. Anna

All of the information listed about the Bible is incorrect. I implore you to ask a non-denominational Christian leader or read on a non-bias site about any of these. As a Christian, I was confused as I read through them and then I realized this must be an Islamic site because everything they are saying is completely false about Christianity. Please look up these passages for yourself and read, Jesus is the Lord- and represented him on Earth. The Bible teaches love and respect for all- love thy neighbor, honor they parents… what you have done to the homeless man on the street you have also done to God…. he preaches love, mercy and forgiveness. This is not a fair representation of Christianity by any means.

  28. John

There are so many errors on this page, that I fear the damage it will cause to both sets of believers. Also, Christians (those who actually read the Bible, that is) do not believe that God rests and sleeps. Regarding “sleeping”, the Psalm you used is speaking metaphorically, and is referring to the Psalter’s desire for God to intercede in a battle on his behalf; it’s a call to action (“awake”), and it’s not meant to be taken literally, as it’s a song or prayer spoken by man to God. Regarding God “resting,” I have to assume you got this notion from Genesis, as you do not actually quote Scripture here. The Hebrew word used in the text is “shabat,” which means to cease or stop. In other words, God did not rest, he stopped creating, purposefully. He had finished what he set out to do. Isaiah 4:28 says, “The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary.” In other words: God does not need rest or sleep.

The Bible needs to be taken as a whole. You cannot simply pluck a verse out of context and claim you know the whole thing; it’s very evident that you don’t. As I don’t think the author would actually remove this page, I caution ALL readers –Christians and followers of Islam– to be careful here.

  29. alan

In reading both books I have come to notice a large bias on the part of convincing the reader to absorb Islam over Christianity – that being said I have noticed only select pieces of material from both books being misused and picked out – much like someone pulling food from the fridge when they are called to have a multi-course meal.

As a theologian it displeases me greatly to see a very uneven comparison and the intentional misuse of quotes from the Bible.

No bravo here, simply bias. Certainly not scholarly.

Youre misquoting corinthians 11. It goes on to say that a woman should have the power to decide if her head must be covered.

I love the comment from “B” but the tone towards the end is rather inappropriate. I want to agree that the writer is rather Pro-Islam in the presentation. But I simply share the same line of thought with “B”. I happen to be caught in between Christianity and Islam. My mother is a Christian and father a Muslin. I grew up enjoying the freedom to know who God is without being enforced to go to church or mosque. Fortunately for me, I attended a Christian University in Nigeria – Covenant, where I was exposed more to the bible. I took time out to understand the logos as fondly called and appreciated its teachings. Similarly, I said I won’t be just if I don’t make an effort to read the Qur’an. In just reading the 7 chapters, I began to encounter lots of similarities which makes sense. Surah 7:54 says…Indeed your Lord is Allah who created the heavens and the earth in Six days…, verse 17 talking to Adam not to eat or approach a tree. Surah 19 giving a close to very similar account of Zechariah and his wife. There are other interesting good similarities between Islam and Christianity. The ultimate to me is that both books teach about the supremacy of God. They both portray a jealous God whom is to be served without a partner. Then let God be the decider of whom is right or wrong. Lets leave everyone with their believe and faith. I would just enjoin everyone whom has not read the Bible or the Qur’an with an open mind. Let’s remember, no one can fight for God. As Jesus thought…Peace be unto you all and Salaam to all .

The Person who wrote this is definitely a Muslim and does not know the Bible. I wonder where did he/she get this info from…God doesn’t sleep…God is a spirit so no one can see God…just because Christians parents are understanding and not controlling like Muslim parents that doesn’t mean we doen’t respect our parents…women have rights in Christianity… all the things that u wrote here makes me angry.

  36. Satia

Both the Bible and Quran tell us of an-initially-one book which became separated due to the obvious rivalry between believers.
comparison on the Bible and The Quran gives the same satisfaction as comparison between The 4 Bible Gospels (contradiction in time,space/place, numbers and names) but fairly the same content and subject matter.
it’s evident that someone or of a group of people having disagreed or conflicted over some facts decided to do separate documentations

  37. Sonini

Its sad how you twist the words and context of these Bible verses. Your book could also be misinterpreted if people were to only take one verse at a time and based everything on that ONE verse. Its truly sad….
but I know the truth. And I declare that the truth shall set you free. Seek the truth for yourself and dont depend on someone else’s doctrine. Read the Bible, you will see what its about. Glory to God!
